The Marathon Jam

The Challenge

Create a game in Godot in the time it takes someone to complete a marathon.

CAFFE co-founders Luke and Kobir

Luke will run a marathon through a local tea garden near our school. He has previously run the Edinburgh Marathon and the Bournemouth Half Marathon but that was six years ago and he's a bit out of practice.

CAFFE teacher Rabiul

Rabiul will work with a group of students to create a game. They will have from the time Luke starts 'running' to the time he completes a marathon (26 miles / 42 kilometers)

Godot & Aseprite

The game will be built in Godot with pixel art created in Aseprite. These are the programs our students are most familiar with.

Sharing to YouTube and Itch.io

The completed game, whatever state it is in, will be uploaded to itch.io. We will also be filming the event (both running and game development) and sharing to YouTube.

Projapoti

Fundraising

Funds raised from the marathon game jam will go towards the school's running costs, salaries and bills.

The money will also support the development of "Projapoti" - a unique narrative game that tells the story of the birth of Bangladesh using real stories from people who witnessed the early days of Bangladesh in the 1970s. This game is being developed by Rabiul and some of our older students.
