A 1980s Bangladeshi Retro Game

Well no, there never was one!

While it seemed like the whole world was getting in on the video game craze in the 80s, that simply wasn't the case. Many countries missed out and Bangladesh is one of those that never had the opportunity to join in on the birth of the video game industry... but what if it had?

How will we do this?

We aim to sponsor four developers in Bangladesh for 12 months to create a retro style video game that reflects the culture and traditions of Bangladesh. Our team consists of young people from underserved communities who have a passion and a dream to make something unique, something to represent Bangladesh in the retro games community.

The goal...

Raise £10,000 to pay fair wages for four developers for one year. Fund not only the creation of the game but a YouTube documentary about the development of the game.

Sustainability

Sales of the game will generate income to fund future game development.

These developers are not just making a game, they're building careers.

Education

Our team of developers will work with more young people to train them in game design, coding and art.

Rural youth in Bangladesh rarely get access to the global digital economy. This project gives them that chance.

Unique

The game will reflect perspectives and stories you don't usually see in the industry - fresh, authentic, and original.

Few game represent Bangladesh to global players, we hope to change that.

The team

Meet Foyez and Rabiul, two of our potential game developers.

Foyez and Rabiul have been learning with us since they were 11 years old.

Foyez has an interest in coding but at the moment he specialises in creating art with both Blender and Aseprite.

Rabiul enjoys coding and creating games. He also produces his own game art in Aseprite.

Both are ready to create something unique for Bangladesh and the retro gaming community with your support.
